The emblem and logotype of the Holy Metropolis of Kyrenia has been designed on the basis of inspiration that sprang from a visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, located in New York City. The particular artefact, which constituted the source of inspiration, was a Byzantine Gold Necklace with Ornaments that dates back to the 6th century and which forms part of the Cyprus Treasure, found at Karavas, Cyprus in 1902. Details of the notably detailed ornaments that are featured on the necklace have been artistically processed towards the final outcome of the aforementioned emblem and logotype. The explicit purpose of the Graphic Designer was to create a piece of work that promotes and reflects the connection of the Holy Metropolis of Kyrenia with the history of the district of Kyrenia.
